I have excuses?

I have excuses?

Yeah.  Going by this picture, one could say that I'm not well organized.  And one would have an excellent case for that opinion.  Fortunately, you can't see the rest of my house, because now that I look at this, I'm definitely not well organized.  I can blame my parents right?  That's still a thing?  Actually my dad doesn't know who raised me, because he stopped taking responsibility for this years ago.  Quitter.

So in the six or seven years I have owned this house, I have done approximately two things to the garage.  I painted the floor with a blue expoxy, which I still haven't decided if I regret or not.  And I built a wall length workbench.  What I neglected to build, however, was any place to store tools.  I had purchased plans to make a nice pegboard thing, and I bought a router and a table saw and it was going to be great.  Then it turns out I didn't know how to use a router or a table saw.  And by the time I figured out the table saw, I had lost the plans.  So here it sits.  I'm not even sure where the router is anymore.  Probably underneath something?  I may be an awful person.

But now here's where I start organizing things.  After much deliberation, I finally settled on the FastTrack Garage Organization System by Rubbermaid.  Instead of a slat wall system, where you cover the entire wall, with this you just lay single tracks.  The problem I have with my wall is that it was put up by monkeys.  Monkeys who had no concept of level or smooth or straight.  It's wavier than a homecoming queen in the parade.  I can do better.

It's wavier than a waterbed that's extra wavy.

Success!  Yes, the bar is low.

Okay, I can't do better.  Whatever.  At least I know how I'm going to start organizing things.  From Lowes I was able to pick up two 84" tracks and some accessories.  I could have gotten more, but I wanted to see how this looks before I committed to anything else.  Installation was as easy as tacking it to the wall with a screw, leveling it, and then securing it to the studs with the rest of the screws.  I had my own wood screws I used for this They were approximately three inches long.  If you haven't noticed, I don't do "exact" very well.

So that went up easily enough.  Even with one person, it was no big deal.  The next one went right above it.  I didn't have any particular height I wanted to go with these, just whatever looked right.  It's just a garage wall, so if I don't like the height, I can move it easily enough and patch the holes.  I'm not too worried.

This is the final result of all my hour of hard work!  Since this worked out well, I'm going to take the tracks all the way across.  I'm also going to have to figure out what to do with all that wood.  I'll probably just put it in the shed with all my spiders.

Ta da!  Now to not finish this project for another five years!
